Doha: The World Health Organization (WHO) has reported that thousands of patients in the Gaza Strip are still awaiting medical evacuation.
According to Qatar News Agency, WHO Spokesperson Tarik Jasarevic stated that since October 2023, 12,913 patients, including 6,186 children, have been medically evacuated from Gaza, along with approximately 16,000 companions. Jasarevic highlighted that medical evacuations are being conducted three to four times a week. "Last week, from August 2-8, 101 patients and 164 companions were evacuated," he mentioned.
WHO has consistently called on the occupying authorities to ease the process for patients and the wounded to leave the Gaza Strip to receive necessary medical care. The organization also emphasizes the importance of allowing essential supplies to reach Palestinians in the besieged region.
