Beirut:President Joseph Aoun of Lebanon has commended Qatar for its efforts in restoring stability in the Middle East. He urged Qatar to collaborate with Arab and international partners to encourage Israel to cease its attacks in southern Lebanon.

According to Qatar News Agency, President Aoun expressed these views during a meeting in Beirut with Qatar's Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani. He praised Qatar's role, under the leadership of Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, in reconciling opposing sides and addressing regional tensions.

Aoun thanked Qatar for its ongoing support for Lebanon, highlighting the importance of continued diplomatic efforts to press Israel to stop its attacks and to adhere to a framework agreement mediated by the United States. He also emphasized the potential for increased cooperation between Lebanon and Qatar, especially in the energy sector, as Qatar has shown willingness to aid Lebanon's electricity crisis.

The Lebanese president expressed gratitude for Qatar's solidarity and assistance during Lebanon's challenging times. He reiterated Lebanon's condemnation of attacks against Gulf nations and voiced solidarity with these states on behalf of Lebanon's leadership and people.

Additionally, President Aoun discussed the ongoing Israeli attacks in southern Lebanon, which have resulted in casualties and the destruction of villages and towns in areas occupied by Israel.
