New york: Major stock indices on Wall Street closed mixed at the end of trading today. The S and P 500 index closed down 7.96 points, or 0.12 percent, at 6,362.90. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 171.71 points, or 0.38 percent, to close at 44,461.28.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Nasdaq Composite Index gained 31.38 points, or 0.15 percent, to close at 21,129.67.
