Shura Council Commends HH the Amir for Promoting Dialogue and Diplomacy

Doha: The Shura Council convened its regular weekly session at the Tamim bin Hamad Hall, chaired by HE Speaker Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim. The Council began by expressing condolences to the families affected by the recent factory explosion in Ras Laffan Industrial City, which resulted in 13 fatalities and several injuries. The Council also acknowledged the swift response of security services to the incident.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Council extended condolences to the family of a citizen who was martyred in the country's territorial waters due to shrapnel from recent regional military operations. A speedy recovery was also wished for another injured individual. The Shura Council welcomed the newly announced negotiations between the United States and Iran, praising HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani's efforts in supporting dialogue and diplomacy. This support highlights Qatar's commitment to mediation and regional peace.

HE Secretary-General Nayef bin Mohammed Al Mahmoud presented the session's agenda, where the Council approved a draft law on fuel station oversight and amendments to the Civil and Commercial Procedures Law. These drafts were forwarded to the government after discussion and review by the Council's committees.

The session also covered reports on the Council's participation in parliamentary events in May. These included a seminar in Rome hosted by the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, a visit to the Greek Parliament in Athens, and an international dialogue in Geneva with the World Health Organization.

Concluding the session, HE Speaker Al Ghanim briefed members on the Council's participation in the 20th Session of the Parliamentary Union of OIC Member States in Baku and the 8th Conference of the Arab Parliament in Cairo. Discussions in Baku centered around cooperation within the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, while the Cairo conference addressed digital sovereignty, regional security, and the Palestinian cause.
