The newspaper Al-Watan stated that the ongoing war in the Gaza Strip has gone undoubtedly beyond its local geographical scope, leading to a serious military escalation throughout the Middle East such as deadly clashes on the Israeli-Lebanese border, and the Houthi attacks in the Red Sea and on Tel Aviv.

The newspaper explained that the intervention of occupation forces in all daily aspects of Palestinian life such as restricting the movement of Palestinians and preventing them from accessing their agricultural lands that settlers burned, vandalized, and looted, puts all the capabilities and resources of the Palestinian people in the hands of the Israeli entity.

Al-Watan concluded by saying that even the Palestinian Authority has not been spared from Israeli attacks, the latest being a new decision by the extremist Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, who seeks to deduct 100 million shekels from Palestinian tax revenues for the benefit of families of Israelis killed in national operations in an attempt to tigh
ten the noose around the Authority and limit its resources, which it needs more than ever.

In the same context, Al-Raya newspaper said that there is no justification for the deliberate criminal targeting of the schools in the Gaza Strip by the Israeli occupation except for killing the Palestinian people and destroying any educational prospects.

The newspaper added that the systematic targeting of infrastructure and educational facilities in Gaza constitutes a serious violation of international law under the Geneva Convention and UN Security Council resolutions. The continuous targeting of schools aims to claim the lives of displaced people, especially children, leading to significant short- and long-term trauma, depriving children of their fundamental right to education in safe and stable conditions.

Al-Raya concluded its editorial by saying that schools, hospitals, shelters, and gatherings of unarmed displaced persons are protected places under international law in times of war. However, the occupation de
liberately targets these places each time, using prohibited weapons.

In local affairs, the English-language newspaper The Peninsula focused on the surge of tourists and visitors recorded propelled by the countrys successful hosting of mega events including the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and its continuous development of the tourism and travel sector.

In its editorial titled “Record visitor arrivals,” the newspaper stated that the country has set new records every year since 2022, receiving more than four million visitors in 2023 and having already received close to three million this year so far. The sector has seen this huge growth thanks to the governments efforts to continuously enhance tourism offerings and propel the sector to new heights.

The Peninsula explained that the countrys tourism strategy is guided by Qatar National Vision 2030 and the Third National Development Strategy 2024-2030. The headline goals for the tourism sector under the strategy are to attract six million visitors annually and rai
se the sectors contribution to GDP to 12 percent by 2030.

The Peninsula concluded its editorial by highlighting that Qatar has emerged as a global tourism and travel hub, and the tourism industry has the potential to continue growing in the coming years, affirming that the country has much to offer to tourists throughout the year. (QNA)
