Doha: Qatari newspapers’ editorials on Monday highlighted the State of Qatar’s firm stance supporting the Palestinian people and their legitimate rights as manifested during HE Shura Council Speaker Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim’s participation in the 150th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU-150) in the Uzbek capital, Tashkent. Qatar renewed its call on the international community to assume its responsibilities towards protecting the Palestinian people and putting an end to the ongoing injustice and violations against them.
According to Qatar News Agency, the newspapers stressed that the continued international silence regarding the crimes committed against civilians in Palestine amounts to nothing more than complicity in the crime of genocide systematically targeting children, families, and households by the occupying forces, in one of the most heinous crimes against humanity in the modern era.
Locally, Monday’s editorials addressed Qatar’s honorable participation in securing international events. The Ministry of Interior and the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya) participated in securing the Manchester City vs. Manchester United match in the English Premier League, as part of cooperation and exchange of expertise with international bodies, affirming the country’s position as a reliable partner in the security field and an example of developing Qatari capabilities according to the highest international standards.
Al-Arab newspaper reported that HE Al-Ghanim affirmed Doha’s support for the Palestinian people and their legitimate rights during his participation in the IPU-150 in Tashkent, in a move that reflects the depth of Qatar’s unwavering commitment to the Palestinian cause. The newspaper said this affirmation comes amid escalating crimes committed in Gaza, as Qatar renewed its call for the international community to assume its responsibilities in protecting the Palestinian people and ending the injustice they are subjected to.
It also noted His Excellency’s call for an immediate end to the aggression and the rejection of the displacement of innocent people from their land, calling on all parliamentarians to back truth and human justice. It considered Qatar’s renewed support for the Palestinian cause in this international forum not only an expression of a firm moral and political position, but also a clear message to the world that Doha will continue to stand by the Palestinian people until they achieve their full rights.
Meanwhile, Al-Sharq newspaper considered that international failure to halt the ongoing genocidal war against the Palestinian people, particularly in the Gaza Strip, remains an indelible stain on humanity. The brutal Israeli aggression continues, and the horrific massacres of innocent people continue unabated, while the international community’s response remains elusive, the daily reported.
The newspaper pointed out that with the resumption of aggression, following Israel’s violation of the ceasefire agreement, there is no longer a safe place in the Gaza Strip for children, civilians, health workers, media professionals, and humanitarian workers in general. Unarmed civilians, especially children, have become the primary target of the Israeli occupation’s aggressive raids. International organizations have revealed that the number of child victims of the war has exceeded 15,000, including 490 children in the past 20 days alone. This is in addition to the one million Palestinian children in the Gaza Strip whose lives are threatened by hunger and malnutrition, it reported.
In conclusion, the daily warned that the continued shameful international silence amounts to nothing more than complicity, if not participation, in the crime of genocide taking place in full view of the world.
