Doha: In their editorials on Sunday, Qatar newspapers highlighted HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani’s affirmation that the State of Qatar stands in solidarity with Somalia, rejecting all forms of violence and terrorism that threaten the security and stability of the Somali people.
According to Qatar News Agency, the newspapers emphasized the vital role played by Qatar in providing support to the Somali people, as it seeks to enhance stability and improve living conditions in a country that has been afflicted by conflicts and natural disasters for decades. Al-Raya highlighted that Qatar has consistently supported Somalia through various crises, including civil war, internal conflicts, droughts, famines, and terrorism. The newspaper also underscored Qatar’s rejection of any interference in the security of brotherly nations.
HH the Amir’s assurance of Qatar’s solidarity came during a phone call with HE President of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, after an explosion targeted the President’s motorcade, resulting in fatalities and injuries. The newspaper reaffirmed Qatar’s commitment to supporting Somalia in achieving its aspirations for a prosperous future.
Al-Arab newspaper echoed these sentiments, stating that HH the Amir’s affirmation of Qatar’s support is part of Doha’s ongoing commitment to Mogadishu. The support extends beyond temporary aid, focusing on long-term investments in areas such as humanitarian aid, economic development, education, and healthcare.
The efforts of Qatar have contributed to alleviating the suffering of the Somali population and enhancing their resilience to challenges, in line with Qatar National Vision 2030, which promotes international cooperation and sustainable development through such initiatives.
