Doha: The State of Qatar is intensifying its diplomatic efforts with regional and international partners to address Israeli occupation violations, cautioning against attempts to establish a new regional reality focused on hegemony rather than security. Dr. Majed bin Mohammed Al Ansari, Adviser to the Prime Minister and Official Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, made these remarks during the ministry's weekly media briefing.
According to Qatar News Agency, Dr. Al Ansari emphasized the need for global vigilance and concrete actions to hold Israel accountable for its recent maneuvers. He noted that many actions by the Israeli occupation are unjustifiable amidst the ongoing war in the Gaza Strip and recent military escalations across the region. He particularly highlighted attempts to alter the status quo in areas such as Syria, the West Bank, and Jerusalem.
Dr. Al Ansari reiterated Qatar's warnings about Israel's exploitation of regional tensions to effect strategic changes in the West Bank, Gaza, Lebanon, and Syria. Qatar is actively collaborating with the Arab-Islamic group and international partnerships to end these violations, maintaining a clear stance against impunity for offenses against the Palestinian people.
In light of HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani's recent visit to Iran, Dr. Al Ansari explained that these diplomatic engagements, which also included officials from Oman and Pakistan, aim to support mediation efforts and prevent further regional escalation.
Qatar remains committed to diplomatic solutions, with consultations continuing with mediation partners in Oman and Pakistan. Dr. Al Ansari warned about the repercussions of leaving the crisis unresolved, particularly the potential closure of the Strait of Hormuz, which could escalate tensions and impact global sectors such as pharmaceuticals and energy.
Qatar is working towards a peaceful settlement to reopen the strait and enhance regional stability. Dr. Al Ansari rejected claims of declining Gulf influence, asserting that GCC states maintain a significant role in international politics and mediation efforts.
Regarding Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al Khulaifi's visit to Libya, Dr. Al Ansari affirmed Qatar's commitment to supporting Libya's political solution and consensus-building. He emphasized Qatar's support for a "Libyan-Libyan" solution and the importance of international backing for Libyan efforts towards stability and development. Qatar will continue to provide support to Libya, fostering a better future for its people.
