Liverpool: Defending champions Liverpool secured a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Newcastle United on Monday night, capping off the second round of the Premier League in thrilling fashion. Liverpool took a two-goal lead through Ryan Gravenberch and Hugo Ekitike in the 35th and 46th minutes, respectively.
According to Qatar News Agency, Newcastle responded with a spirited comeback, equalizing through Bruno Guimaraes and William Osula in the 57th and 88th minutes. But it was Liverpool’s teenage substitute, Rio Ngumoha, who sealed the win deep into stoppage time, scoring in the 100th minute.
With the win, Liverpool move to six points and sit third in the table. Newcastle remain in 15th place with a single point.
