One Killed, 17 Others Injured by Israeli Gunfire in Southern Lebanon

Doha: The Israeli entity opened fire on civilians in villages and towns in southern Lebanon, killing one person and wounding 17 others. The Lebanese Ministry of Public Health issued a statement announcing that the Israeli attacks on civilians in southern Lebanon, as they attempted to return to their towns, resulted in one death and nine injuries in Houla (Marjeyoun district, Nabatieh governorate), and eight injuries in Kfar Kila, also in Nabatieh.

According to Qatar News Agency, field sources reported that dozens of residents of the towns of Mays al-Jabal and Houla arrived on foot to the western neighborhoods of the two towns after crossing the Lebanese army checkpoints. In this context, Israeli forces fired bursts of machine gunfire and some shells around the movement of civilians. Despite the gunfire and explosions in their path, Lebanese civilians continue to walk to their border towns of Mays al-Jabal, Houla, and Markaba, reaching the western neighborhoods on foot.

For its part, the Israeli entity warned the residents of 66 Lebanese border villages and towns from returning to their homes, while the Lebanese army continues to deploy in the border villages in implementation of the ceasefire agreement, despite closing a number of entrances to the villages and towns, due to the presence of suspicious objects and mines, or the presence of occupation forces.

It is worth noting that today ends the sixty-day deadline for the withdrawal of the Israeli occupation army forces from the border villages and towns in southern Lebanon; in implementation of the ceasefire agreement reached on November 27.
