Kumamoto: A magnitude 5.1 earthquake struck Kumamoto Prefecture on Japan's southern island of Kyushu on Thursday. The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) revealed that the earthquake's epicenter was at a depth of 10 km. There have been no reports of casualties or damage so far.

According to Qatar News Agency, this earthquake comes as Kumamoto Prefecture continues to recover from the powerful 7.1 magnitude earthquake that struck on July 28, killing 38 people. The previous quake has kept authorities on alert for any possible aftershocks or emergencies. Japan's geographical location at the convergence of four tectonic plates makes it particularly susceptible to seismic activity and is also home to around 100 active volcanoes.
