Doha: A magnitude 5.0 earthquake struck several provinces in southeastern Turkey on Saturday, with no casualties or damage reported.

According to Qatar News Agency, Turkey's Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) stated that the earthquake was centered in the Battalgazi district of Malatya province. The agency confirmed that no adverse developments had been reported following the quake.

Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Minister Murat Kurum mentioned that authorities had not detected any adverse developments but continued to assess all reports.

Turkey is situated on several active fault lines and experiences frequent earthquakes. The twin earthquakes that hit the country's southeast in February 2023 resulted in over 53,000 fatalities and widespread devastation.
