Doha: Inter Milan opened its Serie A campaign in emphatic fashion Monday, routing Torino 5-0 in the final match of the league’s first round.
According to Qatar News Agency, with the win, Inter climbed to the top of the table on goal difference, level on three points with Como, Juventus, Napoli, Cremonese, and Roma. Torino, meanwhile, sits at the bottom with zero points.
Goals came from Alessandro Bastoni in the 18th minute, Marcus Thuram who scored twice in the 36th and 62nd minutes, Lautaro Martinez in the 52nd minute, and Ange-Yoan Bonny in the 72nd minute, as Inter dominated at the San Siro.
Elsewhere, Udinese and Hellas Verona played to a 1-1 draw. Thomas Kristensen scored for Udinese in the 53rd minute, while Suat Serdar equalized for Verona in the 73rd minute.
The report also highlighted that defending champions Napoli began their title defense with a 2-0 win over Sassuolo.
The round also saw AC Milan fall 2-1 to Cremonese, Roma edge Bologna 1-0, and Juventus defeat Parma 2-0.
