An earthquake measuring 5 on the richter scale struck central-eastern peru on wednesday: The earthquake occurred 16 km west of Tournavista, at a depth of 130.5 km, the US Geological Survey reported.

According to Qatar News Agency, Peru experiences approximately 400 earthquakes each year that are felt by residents, as it lies on the Pacific Ring of Fire, a seismically active region along the west coast of the Americas.
