Doha: An explosion has taken place at Shahid Rajaee Port near Bandar Abbas, in southern Iran, injuring 47 people, while the cause of the incident is yet to be determined. The blast occurred on Saturday, causing destruction in the surrounding areas and affecting some industries in western Bandar Abbas.

According to Qatar News Agency, Iran’s news agency, IRNA, quoted the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company (NIORDC) as saying that the explosion did not affect the refineries, fuel tanks, or associated oil pipelines in the area, and that the facilities in Bandar Abbas are currently operating without interruption.

The company explained that the port is the largest and most advanced container port in Iran, with 12 container berths and 30 cranes, and plays a pivotal role in the country’s maritime economy.
