Qatar’s Former GCC Chief Denounces Houthi Aggression Against Saudi Arabia

Abu Dhabi:Qatar's former Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) secretary-general, HE Abdulrahman bin Hamad Al Attiyah, has strongly criticized the attacks by Yemen's Houthi group on Saudi Arabia, labeling them as violations of the kingdom's security, stability, and sovereignty.

According to Qatar News Agency, HE Al Attiyah, a Qatari Minister of State, stated that the reported targeting of the holy cities of Mecca and Medina demonstrated a disregard for the sanctity of Islam's most sacred sites. He further condemned the attacks aimed at civilians in Saudi Arabia.

Al Attiyah emphasized that such aggression against Saudi Arabia poses a threat not only to the kingdom but also to the security and stability of all GCC member states and their populations. He warned that attempts to destabilize the region threatened decades of progress in regional security and stability, which has been built on cooperation, coordination, and solidarity among Gulf countries.

Expressing confidence in the resilience of the Gulf states, he believed the attacks would not succeed in undermining the stability that has been established. Al Attiyah also lauded the Saudi leadership's response, highlighting its determination to confront the attacks.
