Dr Hassan Moustafa Re-Elected As IHF President at 40th IHF Congress

Cairo: Egypt's Dr. Hassan Moustafa has been re-elected as president of the International Handball Federation (IHF) for a new term from 2025 to 2029, marking his seventh consecutive term leading the sport.

According to Qatar News Agency, Moustafa secured the presidency during the 40th IHF Congress held in Cairo between Dec. 19-21, receiving 129 votes. He outperformed his three rivals: Slovenian Frank Popinac, who garnered 24 votes, German Gerd Butzek with 20 votes, and Dutchman Tjarke de Lange, who received 3 votes.

Dr. Hassan Mustafa has been president of the International Handball Federation since 2000. During his tenure, the game has witnessed development on both the technical and administrative levels. These advancements include the launch of new tournaments for different age groups, updating the rules of the game, and increasing the scope of television broadcasting and commercial partnerships.
