Workshop Held to Address Violence Against Children in Arab States

Hanoi:The Ministry of Social Development and Family, in collaboration with the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States, organized a workshop focused on addressing the effects of violence against children. This event, conducted via videoconference, included participation from government representatives responsible for child protection across Arab nations, as well as regional and international experts, specialists, and representatives from relevant organizations.

According to Qatar News Agency, the workshop began with opening remarks by Lubna Azzam from the Family and Childhood Department at the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States. This was followed by a speech from Fatima Mohammed Al Nuaimi, Director of the Family Development Department at the Ministry of Social Development and Family.

The workshop was a result of a recommendation from the 21st session of the Committee for Follow-up on Ending Violence Against Children, chaired by Qatar on September 18, 2025. The session emphasized the need for enhanced cooperation among member states and organizations to prevent violence against children and reduce its effects.

Discussions during the workshop focused on strengthening Arab cooperation to tackle violence's effects on children, sharing best practices in prevention and protection, and understanding international standards for child protection. The issue of digital violence against children was also highlighted, with discussions on prevention, protection, and response mechanisms.

Participants reviewed ways to monitor, report, and manage cases involving child violence, aiming to develop an integrated child protection system. The workshop also explored outcomes from the Global Conference in Bogota, discussing how Arab countries can implement commitments made to end violence against children.

The workshop concluded with practical recommendations to enhance Arab cooperation, develop child protection mechanisms, support expertise exchange, and build institutional and professional capacities to safeguard children's rights and protect them from violence.
