US Vice-President Affirms Progress in Talks with Iran, Commends Role of Qatar and Pakistan

Geneva: US Vice President J.D. Vance confirmed progress in the ongoing talks with Iran, commending the role played by Qatar and Pakistan in supporting the technical negotiations between the United States and Iran.

According to Qatar News Agency, Vice President Vance, following talks in Switzerland, stated that the Burgenstock meetings had made progress on the issues discussed. He mentioned that the meetings had facilitated the establishment of a coordination mechanism to ensure the smooth flow of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, addressing challenges to navigation and preventing escalation, which contributed to the resumption of oil and LNG shipments through the strait.

Additionally, the meetings established a regional coordination mechanism aimed at supporting the consolidation of the ceasefire and addressing security developments in the region to contain tensions and enhance security and stability.

Vice President Vance highlighted that Iran agreed to invite inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to return, describing this step as an advance in negotiations related to the Iranian nuclear program.

He emphasized that the achievements of the Burgenstock meetings form the foundation for the final agreement, indicating that participants were able to establish the necessary political and technical framework to complete negotiations in the coming days and weeks.
