Doha: At least two people were killed in separate Israeli occupation airstrikes on southern Lebanon on Tuesday, marking a renewed escalation despite a ceasefire agreement that has technically remained in place since late last year. According to the Lebanese Ministry of Health’s Emergency Operations Center, one person was killed in the latest strike, which targeted the town of Shebaa. This attack was the second aerial assault carried out by Israeli forces in the region within the same day.
According to Qatar News Agency, earlier, a separate drone strike hit a vehicle in the center of Yater, another town in southern Lebanon, killing one person, officials confirmed. The strikes come amid ongoing violations of a ceasefire deal that took effect on November 27 of last year. The agreement initially called for Israeli forces to withdraw from southern Lebanese border areas within 60 days. Although the Lebanese government later extended the deadline to February 18, Israeli troops remain stationed at five locations and continue to carry out military operations, in defiance of the accord.
