Syria Foreign Ministry Welcomes Washington’s Sanctions Relief Decision

Damascus: The Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs today welcomed the United States’ decision to issue sanctions relief for Syria. The sanctions were first imposed since 2011.

According to Qatar News Agency, the ministry described the US decision as a positive step in the right direction to alleviate the humanitarian and economic suffering in the country.

The US Treasury Department issued a general license to provide sanctions relief for the Syrian Interim Government led by President Ahmad Al Sharaa, the Central Bank, and state-owned companies.
