Manama, The Supreme Council for Environment (SCE) signed a cooperation agreement with Bapco Energies.
The agreement aimed to enhance coordination in the field of environmental preservation, increase the numbers of mangrove trees by establishing nurseries for their cultivation, and support environmental projects.
SCE emphasised its keenness to strengthen cooperation with a number of sectors and institutions, in order to fulfill its international obligations relating to climate change and environmental challenges, to ensure the sustainability of natural resources and environmental balance. The efforts of the council in this area include the national afforestation plan aimed at doubling the number of trees by 2035, and quadrupling the number of mangrove trees by 2035.
Bapco Energies affirmed that signing the cooperation framework with SCE supports efforts made to achieve environmental sustainability goals and protecting resources, and to consolidate community partnerships and integration of efforts to achieve sustainable goals in Bahrain.
