Doha: HE Minister of State for Foreign Trade Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Sayed announced that the newly concluded free trade agreement between the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and the United Kingdom (UK) will offer substantial benefits to Qatar's private sector while enhancing access to the British market.
According to Qatar News Agency, HE Al Sayed highlighted that the agreement, finalized after negotiations, is set to bolster the competitiveness of Qatari companies in various sectors, including digital trade, financial services, and energy. The initiative is expected to create new avenues for economic growth.
The joint statement marking the conclusion of negotiations for the GCC-UK free trade agreement was signed on Wednesday, underscoring a mutual effort to strengthen economic and commercial ties between the two regions.
HE Al Sayed, who participated in a virtual meeting alongside GCC trade ministers and British officials, characterized the agreement as a noteworthy accomplishment. It reflects Qatar's increasing influence in shaping international economic relations.
He further stated that the deal aims not only to enhance trade exchange but also to establish a lasting economic partnership with the UK. The agreement is anticipated to provide Qatari businesses and investors with broader access to global markets.
