Doha: In their editorials on Thursday, Qatari newspapers addressed several local, Arab and international topics, with a particular focus on the significant leap in relations between the State of Qatar and Southeast Asian countries (ASEAN) in recent years. They highlighted the important cooperation between the two sides in various vital fields, the frequent high-level visits, and the increasing pace of joint economic and investment projects.
Additionally, the newspapers noted that Qatar has managed to secure a prestigious position on the global tourism map, becoming one of the preferred destinations for those seeking relaxation, comfort, and luxury.
The editorials also emphasized that promoting and protecting human rights in Qatar is not only a strategic choice but also a fundamental factor in the country’s economic, social, cultural, and environmental transformation. This is reflected in Qatar National Vision 2030, which includes important aspects in key human rights issues in education, health, environment
, labor rights, women’s empowerment, and children’s rights.
On the Arab front, the newspapers condemned the ongoing massacres and crimes committed by the Israeli occupation, which have claimed thousands of lives, calling for international community solidarity to halt these repeated daily atrocities against civilians and innocents.
Al-Sharq newspapers said, in its editorials, that the relations between the State of Qatar and Southeast Asian countries (ASEAN) have seen a qualitative leap and important cooperation in several vital fields in recent years.
The newspaper added that the relationship between Qatar and ASEAN is continuously and positively evolving, with total trade between the two sides amounting to approximately 9 billion USD annually. Qatar is considered a major investor in ASEAN, and investments from ASEAN member states in Doha have seen significant growth, with notable projects already underway in sectors such as oil and gas, hospitality, information and communications technology, construction,
and retail.
Al-Sharq concluded its editorial by saying that the State of Qatar places significant importance on ASEAN countries as a vital and important party in enhancing the regional and global economy, stressing that Doha is keen to strengthen its relations with Asia over the past years by joining Asian entities and blocs.
On the other hand, Al-Raya stressed that the State of Qatar has secured a prestigious position on the global tourism map, noting that visitors to Qatar are impressed by its advanced and modern tourism infrastructure, beautiful coastlines, and diverse tourist attractions.
The editorial added that Qatar’s tourism achievements have been numerous and varied, with the latest being Qatar’s nomination for the Most Modern Tourist Destination award by the leading travel magazine Wanderlust. This comes in the wake of the successful major events recently hosted by Qatar, which have cemented its position as a leading travel destination, the newspaper said, adding that the Qatari tourism sector ha
s seen significant development in recent years, underscoring the success of the strategy to develop the tourism sector, which aligns with the overall development, growth, and renaissance the country is experiencing.
Al-Raya pointed out that several factors have contributed to the success of Qatar’s tourism sector development strategy, such as the visa facilitation provided by Qatar, with Hamad International Airport becoming a global transit hub for tourists, and Doha hosting major sports, economic, and political events that attract large numbers of visitors.
The newspaper concluded by affirming that Qatar will be able to lead the global tourism sector within years, thanks to its strategic location, advanced infrastructure, modern transportation network, and safe environment.
