Qatari Newspaper Editorials -1-

In its editorial entitled “Qatar Supports Education of Gaza’s Children,” Al-Raya highlighted the words of HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, the Chairperson of the Education Above All (EAA) Foundation and Sustainable Development Goals Advocate, which summarized Qatar’s message of humanity, saying: “Every child has the right to enjoy security and peace and to learn without fear.” In this context, Al-Raya highlighted the projects of the Education Above All Foundation, which Her Highness discussed with HE Rosangela Lula da Silva, the First Lady of the Federative Republic of Brazil; noting that these projects aim to provide children and youth with access to education in marginalized areas of Brazil. Additionally, they discussed efforts to protect education during wars and conflicts.

The newspaper also referred to Her Highness’s visit to the First Assalam School, where she was briefed on the continued efforts exerted by EAA’s “Together Project” which aims to provide quality education and training to Palestinian childr
en and youth who have been deprived of formal education opportunities because of the ongoing war on Gaza.

Al-Raya concluded by stating: “We must shed light on the crimes of the occupation against education in Gaza, foremost of which the targeting of Al-Fakhoura School. This school was the starting point for educational projects in Gaza, eventually evolving into a program encompassing all aspects of the educational process, including scholarships for specialized fields not available in the Strip. However, it was bombed by Israeli occupation forces. Thirty-six schools and universities were either completely or partially destroyed during the aggression, in a brutal, retaliatory war against the achievements of the Palestinian people in Gaza.” Commenting on another topic, Al-Sharq highlighted Qatar’s continued support for Yemen.

In its editorial entitled “Steadfast Qatari Stance and Continued Support for Yemeni People,” Al-Sharq said that the State of Qatar spares no effort in supporting the brotherly Yemeni peo
ple. This stems from the deep-rooted fraternal relations between the two countries and peoples. Qatar has always been at the forefront of supporting the Yemeni people.

In this context, the newspaper pointed to the meeting between HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, and HE Prime Minister of the Republic of Yemen Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak, who is currently visiting Qatar. The meeting discussed ways to promote of the bilateral cooperation and the latest developments in Yemen.

HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs reiterated the State of Qatar’s constant support for Yemen and its brotherly people to fulfill their aspirations for security, stability and development, the paper added.

The State of Qatar, based on its belief in peaceful solutions and diplomatic initiatives to resolve various conflicts and wars in the region and the world, has remained one of the strongest supporters of regional and international efforts to resolve
the Yemeni crisis. This support is manifested through continued dialogue aimed at ending the conflict in Yemen and reaching a political solution based on the outcomes of the National Dialogue, the Gulf Initiative, and relevant UN Security Council resolutions, particularly Resolution 2216, Al-Sharq concluded.

In a different matter, English newspaper, The Peninsula, condemned the ongoing Israeli war crimes in Gaza and the West Bank, which continue without accountability.

In its editorial titled “Israel Must Be Held Accountable,” The Peninsula said the Zionist state committed yet another heinous crime on Friday as the occupation forces killed a peaceful protester, an American-Turkish citizen Aysenur Ezgi Eygi. She was shot dead by Israeli forces as she took part in a weekly protest against Jewish settlement expansion in the town of Beita, near Nablus.

Qatar, denouncing Ezgis murder, said it was part of a recurring pattern of violent crimes committed by the Israeli occupation forces to deprive Palestinians of
their rights. It reiterated that the silence of the global community emboldens Israel and it continues its crimes, the paper noted.

The voices of activists cannot be silenced by the bullets, and will continue to resound in support of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, including the establishment of an independent state with full sovereignty on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, The Peninsula concluded.
