Doha: HE Minister of Education and Higher Education Lolwah Al Khater has approved the first-round results of the General Secondary Certificate examinations for the 2025-2026 academic year. The announcement was made during an official meeting at the ministry's headquarters in Doha, attended by senior officials and education leaders.
According to Qatar News Agency, the minister congratulated successful students and their families, noting that the results reflected a year of sustained effort and dedication. She also praised the contributions of teachers, school administrators, and families in supporting students throughout the academic year. Overall pass rates varied across educational tracks, with the scientific track achieving a 90.10% success rate in daytime study and adult education recording 37.93%. The humanities track had pass rates of 82.24% in daytime study and 52.10% in adult education. The technological track recorded a pass rate of 80.14%.
Several schools achieved particularly strong results. Qatar Science and Technology Secondary School for Boys recorded a 100% pass rate, while the Religious Institute Preparatory and Secondary School for Boys achieved 97.87%. Qatar Technical Secondary School recorded 89.24% in daytime study and 83.72% in adult education. Qatar Banking Studies and Business Administration Secondary School, along with the two Audio Education Schools, also achieved a 100% pass rate. The parallel track for adult education recorded a pass rate of 41.80%.
In a press conference following the announcement, Assistant Undersecretary for Evaluation Affairs at the ministry, Khalid Abdullah Al Harqan, stated that 16,486 students sat the examinations across different academic tracks. He emphasized the strong performance levels, noting that 50 students achieved a perfect score of 100% in the scientific track. He added that the success of the academic year was due to coordinated efforts across state institutions and the dedication of school staff. Al Harqan also highlighted the role of administrative and teaching staff in maintaining stability and quality throughout the academic year.
Al Harqan mentioned that male students accounted for the majority of those who achieved full marks this year, with 31 boys compared to 19 girls. He stated that this reflected the level of academic competition and excellence witnessed during the academic year. He said overall indicators pointed to a marked improvement in academic attainment compared with previous years, with 10,898 students achieving a score of 70% or above, qualifying them for admission to higher education institutions in Qatar and abroad. He also noted that 3,501 students did not pass the first round of examinations but would still have the opportunity to sit the second-round exams.
Meanwhile, Director of the Student Assessment Department Ibrahim Abdullah Al Mohannadi said the achievement reflected the efforts of the entire education system, describing it as the result of a full academic year of continuous work and cooperation between students, families, and schools. He noted that the process extended beyond the examination period to include marking, review, verification, and moderation, adding that the ministry had worked to build an assessment system based on transparency, accuracy, and fairness.
Director of Public Relations and Communication Maryam Al Mohannadi stated that success in the secondary certificate examinations was not an individual achievement alone but the result of partnership between families, schools, and teachers. She mentioned that results day remained a significant milestone for students and families, marked by anticipation, emotion, and hope, before culminating in the joy of success and achievement. She expressed hope that students would continue their academic journeys with confidence and excellence, contributing to the future development of Qatar.
