Qatar National Day: Reaffirming Loyalty and Celebrating Transport Achievements

Doha: HE Minister of Transport Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulla bin Mohammed Al-Thani emphasized that Qatar National Day is an annual occasion to reaffirm loyalty to the nation and its wise leadership. It represents a milestone in the journey of development and unity under the principles instilled by the Founder, Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani.

According to Qatar News Agency, this year’s National Day slogan, inspired by the words of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, reflects a commitment to continuous development and the belief that the nation’s progress is linked to human development. The Minister extended congratulations to the Qatari leadership and people.

The Ministry of Transport is committed to implementing its national vision through an integrated and sustainable transport system. This supports Qatar National Vision 2030 and strengthens the nation’s role in the global economy.

The Ministry’s Strategy 2025-2030, launched by HE Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, aims to develop the transport sector, enhancing economic growth and sustainability. It includes 125 projects with significant private sector involvement to boost economic diversification.

Key initiatives focus on public transport improvements and digital transformation, including the launch of the “Darb” mobile application and the “Digital Logistics Portal” to streamline logistics services. The Ministry is also advancing smart transportation with trials of self-driving taxis and electric air taxis.

The International Association of Public Transport’s 2025 report highlights Qatar’s achievements in public transport, with the country leading in several key indices. A report by PricewaterhouseCoopers recognizes Qatar’s progress in electric mobility, with significant advancements in electric vehicle adoption.

The Ministry is also focused on enhancing maritime and land transport sectors. Notable projects include the Maritime Training and Simulation Center and the development of a unified maritime law. Land transport initiatives include the Al Waab Corridor and a comprehensive bicycle plan.

Efforts to mitigate environmental impacts of transport and improve connectivity are ongoing. The Ministry’s strategy includes transitioning to electric buses and enhancing public transport infrastructure.

Qatar’s international standing in transport is affirmed by its membership in the ICAO Council and the IMO Executive Council, reflecting its leadership in promoting global standards and cooperation in air and maritime transport sectors.
