Qatar-Germany Interior Ministers Meet Amidst Regional Humanitarian Concerns

Doha: HE Minister of Interior and Commander of the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya) Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani met with HE Federal Minister of the Interior of the Federal Republic of Germany Alexander Dobrindt.

According to Qatar News Agency, the meeting comes at a time when the Chairperson of the National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) and member of the Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission (IPHRC) of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Maryam bint Abdullah Al Attiyah, highlighted the unprecedented deterioration of the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank due to a comprehensive siege and acute shortages of food and medicine.

In other developments, a joint statement was released regarding the Seventh Qatar-United States Strategic Dialogue. The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MECC) organized the closing workshop for the preliminary assessment project of the Minamata Convention on Mercury. Additionally, the Ministry of Culture concluded the Darb Al Saai events 2025, held in the Umm Salal area to commemorate Qatar National Day.

The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) recently held the National Workshop for Setting Health Research Priorities in Qatar, with participation from various research, academic, and healthcare institutions, alongside the World Health Organization (WHO).

Qatar Railways Company (Qatar Rail) reported a total of 4,924,919 passengers used the Doha Metro and Lusail Tram networks during the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025 and the FIFA Intercontinental Cup Qatar 2025, with an average of 273,606 passengers daily.

Qatar Exports announced the outcomes of the Qatar-Kuwait Trade Mission, featuring participation from over 35 Qatari companies across diverse industrial and commercial sectors. Meanwhile, Ooredoo successfully provided uninterrupted, high-capacity connectivity for major international sporting events and conferences hosted in Qatar this year.

Doha is set to host the Executive Office Meeting of the Arab Weightlifting Federation (AWF) on Sunday, followed by the electoral meeting alongside three international, Arab, and Asian championships until December 27, 2025. Additionally, registration for the 17th Qatar International Falcons and Hunting Festival (Marmi 2026) will commence at the Qatari Society of Al Gannas (QSA) headquarters in Katara Cultural Village on Sunday.

In sports, Ahmed Al Shaabi, President of the Qatar Handball Association, was elected by acclamation as the Asian Handball Federation's (AHF) representative to the International Handball Federation (IHF) during the 25th Ordinary General Assembly of the Asian Handball Federation in Cairo, Egypt.

Finally, the Organizing Committee of the Fourth GCC Games (Doha 2026) unveiled the official logo of the tournament during a special ceremony at the Old Doha Port.
