Cairo: The State of Qatar, with representation from its Ministries of Justice and Interior, has actively engaged in the third meeting of a joint committee comprising experts and representatives from various Arab countries’ Ministries of Justice and Interior. The focus of this meeting is the critical review of the draft Arab guiding law aimed at the protection and assistance of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) within the region. The discussions commenced today at the League of Arab States headquarters in Cairo.
According to Qatar News Agency, this two-day meeting is a continuation of efforts initiated by the Council of Arab Ministers of Justice during its 40th regular session held on November 28, 2024. The council had called for a conclusive meeting of the joint committee to deliberate on the draft law, which seeks to establish a robust framework for the protection and support of IDPs in Arab countries.
The committee is anticipated to conclude its examination of the draft law’s provisions during this meeting. Initially proposed by the Ministry of Justice of Iraq, the draft law has undergone scrutiny by the joint committee, following its formation as approved by the Council of Arab Ministers of Justice.
