Qatar and Uzbekistan Explore Strategic Partnership Opportunities in Tashkent

Tashkent: The State of Qatar and the Republic of Uzbekistan have engaged in discussions aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation and exploring strategic project partnerships to bolster economic, trade, and investment relations. This initiative was marked by a visit from a Qatari delegation to Tashkent, led by HE Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Sayed, Minister of State for Foreign Trade Affairs at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

According to Qatar News Agency, Dr. Al Sayed conducted a series of bilateral meetings with several senior officials from Uzbekistan, including HE Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Khodjaev, HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance Jamshid Kuchkarov, HE Minister of Foreign Affairs Bakhtiyar Saidov, HE Minister of Investment, Industry, and Trade Laziz Kudratov, and HE Minister of Energy Jurabek Mirzamahmudov. The central focus of these discussions was to enhance cooperation and identify partnership and investment opportunities in key sectors such as infrastructure and transportation, aligning with the mutual goal of expanding economic ties.

On the sidelines of the visit, a roundtable meeting was co-chaired by Dr. Al Sayed and HE Laziz Kudratov, with participation from both public and private sector representatives. Dr. Al Sayed underscored the importance of this meeting as a reflection of the growing momentum in Qatari-Uzbek relations and the shared commitment to advancing economic, trade, and investment cooperation. He emphasized Qatar's strategic interest in exploring long-term cooperation and investment opportunities.

The discussions also delved into potential collaborations in strategic projects and reviewed investment opportunities for Qatari investors and institutions. Mechanisms for enhancing cooperation between the public and private sectors were examined, alongside plans to activate the joint Qatari-Uzbek Business Council to foster sustainable economic partnerships.

The Qatari delegation comprised senior executives from various key national institutions, including the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the Civil Aviation Authority, the Qatar Investment Authority, the Investment Promotion Agency of Qatar, the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Qatar Airways, Qatar Development Bank, and the Qatar Fund for Development.
