On Anniversary of Deir Yassin Massacre.. Arab League Condemns Israeli Aggression Against Palestinians

The Arab League strongly condemned all the racist and terrorist practices against the Palestinian people and the systematic violation of their basic human rights as well as using the aggression policy and ethnic cleansing through displacement, settlements, demolishing houses, and sacrilege, pointing out that Israel continues its acts of aggression that would undermine all efforts aimed at calming the situation, threatening peace and security in the region and the world.

In a statement marking the 75th anniversary of the Deir Yassin Massacre, Assistant Secretary-General for Palestine and the Occupied Arab Territories at the Arab League Ambassador Dr. Said Abu Ali said that this horrific massacre that rumbled humanity’s and free world’s consciousness claimed hundreds of murdered defenseless women, children, and elderlies. At that time, the Zionist mobs besieged Dier Yassin village bombing it with mortars, then stormed it and opened fire randomly, leading to the death of more than 250 Palestinians and injuring of more than 300 others in the largest genocide crimes against the Palestinian people.

The statement added that this horrific massacre constituted the actual beginning of the Nakba of the Palestinian people as Israeli massacres and crimes continued against them, leading to the wiping out of most Palestinian villages and cities and displacing more than 850,000 Palestinians who represented half of the population at that time. The massacre also represented solid evidence of cleansing crimes committed by Israel (occupation force) since its start and still bringing about demographic change and imposing a fait accompli policy on the ground.

The statement added that on the anniversary of the painful massacre, the General Secretariat of the Arab League pays tribute to the Palestinian people who are steadfast on their land and to their righteous martyrs who were killed as a result of the continuous and escalating Israeli aggression.

The statement pointed out that Israel continues to commit heinous crimes, the last of which was the burning of Huwara town and sacrilege in Jerusalem, Hebron, and others, as well as the repeated aggressions on Al Aqsa Mosque during the holy month of Ramadan with repeated incursions and brutal attacks on worshipers, in addition to the continuous siege over the Gaza Strip and other aggressive practices that would undermine all efforts aimed at calming the situation, threatening peace and security in the region and the world.

The statement also called for a serious stand by the international community to deter such crimes and put pressure on Israel (the occupation force) to comply immediately with the relevant resolutions of international legitimacy, and oblige it to stop its crimes against the Palestinian people, and to implement its obligations stipulated in the resolutions of international legitimacy, especially those of the United Nations to reach a just solution based on the “two-state solution,” in a way that secures international protection for the Palestinian people on their land and eventually end the occupation and enable them to exercise their legitimate rights to freedom and independence in their sovereign state with Jerusalem as its capital.
