MSDF Prepares for Qatar Family Day Celebration

The Ministry of Social Development and Family (MSDF), in cooperation with the Family Consulting Center (Wifaq), is preparing to celebrate the Qatar Family Day, which falls on April 15, annually, as an emphasis on the importance of the family and its active and pivotal role in development.

This year’s celebration comes amid appreciated efforts by MSDF within the framework of its responsibilities and competence in this aspect, which reflects the state’s great interest in community development and the family, as the latter is the pillar and solid nucleus of society.

Director of the Social Welfare Department at MSDF Reem Al Ajmi confirmed that the great interest in the family comes from the wise leaderships belief in the centrality of the family’s role in nation-building and development.

Al Ajmi explained that protecting the family and enhancing its cohesion is achieved by investing in well-studied activities and programs that contribute to the greatest degree of social stability and family cohesion, enabling it to face challenges, especially those that target its value system and social contract.

She pointed out that social development is part of the Qatar National Vision 2030, which clearly reflects the country’s wise leadership’s interest in building an effective social protection system that takes care of the rights of all, values their active participation in the national development process, and dedicates their complementary roles in this process based on the essence of the family and its centrality in society.

The Ministry’s programs and events to celebrate Qatar Family Day this year include various activities, such as introductory tours for primary schools (boys and girls) to promote the value of family cohesion, in addition to awareness activities for students in coordination and cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, which include lectures, workshops, and agricultural activity to plant Lycium shawii seedlings.

In coordination with the Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs, the Friday sermon will be devoted to the importance of the family and its pivotal role in building society and the nation, as it instills righteous values in the hearts of the young.

In addition, MSDF will organize a major event for the public in the Museum of Islamic Art Park and at Qatar Foundation.

A special hashtag will also be launched for this occasion on social media platforms entitled “Family_Day_in_Qatar”, to strengthen cooperation with various partners to celebrate this occasion and emphasize the roles of all institutions in the country to support the process of development and community building within the framework of the Qatar National Vision 2030.
