Meteorology Department Warns of Thundery Rain, Strong Winds and Poor Visibility

Doha: The Department of Meteorology issued a warning on Saturday regarding the onset of thundery rain, strong winds, and reduced visibility inshore, coupled with high seas offshore.

According to Qatar News Agency, the department's daily forecast indicated that the weather conditions until 6:00 pm would be partly cloudy to cloudy with chances of scattered rain, which might become thundery at intervals. The wind patterns are expected to be northeasterly to southeasterly, ranging from 5-15 knots, with gusts potentially reaching up to 30 knots during thunderstorms.

The report further stated that inshore sea conditions will vary between 1 and 3 feet, potentially rising to around 5 feet amid thundery activity. Offshore, the seas are expected to build from 2-4 feet to as high as 10 feet. Visibility inshore is anticipated to range from 4-9 km, dropping to 2 km or less during thunderstorms. Offshore visibility will vary from 4-9 km, decreasing to 3 km or less at certain times.
