New york: Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi and Secretary-General of the United Nations Antonio Guterres met on the sidelines of the 81st session of the UNGA in New York to discuss the regional state of play.

According to Qatar News Agency, the two leaders explored ways to enhance GCC-UN cooperation to advance their mutual interests. They criticized the Houthi attacks on the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and civilian assets, emphasizing the threats these pose to regional security and stability. Additionally, they reviewed several regional issues and the ongoing efforts to address them.

The UN Secretary-General praised the accomplishments of GCC nations in development, progress, and prosperity, as well as their contributions to enhancing regional and global security and stability.
