First Deputy Speaker elected IPU standing committee member

Luanda, The Governing Council of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) today approved MP Abdulnabi Salman, First Deputy Speaker of the Council of Representatives, as a member of IPU’s Standing Committee on Peace and International Security, representing the Arab Group.

Speakers and representatives of Arab parliaments participating in the IPU’s 147th Assembly and related meetings held a coordination meeting in which they had agreed to nominate MP Salman as a member of the committee for the next two years.

The first deputy speaker expressed pride in his election as a member of the IPU’s standing committee, noting that it is an achievement that adds to the accomplishments of Bahraini parliamentary diplomacy.

He praised the support of Speaker, Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, the Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Parliamentary Delegation, as well as that of Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh, the Shura Council Chairman, paying tribute to Arab parliamentarians for their keenness to consolidate Arab parliamentary presence in the committees of parliamentary unions.
