Department of Meteorology Warns of Thundery Rain, Strong Wind and High Sea Tonight

Doha: The Department of Meteorology has issued a weather report warning residents of thundery rain, strong wind, and high sea conditions expected to persist until 6:00 am on Wednesday. The report indicates that the weather inshore will be partly cloudy to cloudy with scattered rain, which may become thundery in certain areas.

According to Qatar News Agency, the offshore conditions will also mirror those onshore, with partly cloudy to cloudy skies and scattered rain, potentially becoming thundery at times. The report cautions that these conditions will be associated with strong wind and high sea levels.

Inshore wind patterns are expected to be mainly northwesterly, ranging from 5 to 15 knots, with gusts reaching up to 30 knots during thundery rain. Offshore, the wind will vary from southwesterly to northwesterly, with speeds between 10 to 20 knots, gusting up to 35 knots.

The report further details that the state of the sea inshore will range from 2 to 4 feet, rising to 5 feet in conditions of thundery rain. Offshore, the sea state will be between 3 to 6 feet, potentially rising to 11 feet during thundery rain.

Visibility is expected to be between 4 to 9 kilometers inshore, reducing to 3 kilometers or less during thundery rain. Offshore visibility conditions are anticipated to be similar, ranging from 4 to 9 kilometers, also decreasing to 3 kilometers or less with thundery rain.
