Andalusian Cultural Studies Association Launched in Jordan

Amman: The Andalusian Cultural Studies Association was launched in Amman, Jordan, on Saturday. The launch was marked by a ceremony held at the National Library of Jordan.

According to Qatar News Agency, Jordanian Minister of Culture Mustafa Rawashdeh highlighted the significance of this initiative, noting that Al Andalus holds a historic standing in the Arab consciousness. He emphasized that the association will provide opportunities for in-depth exploration of Al Andalus's history, arts, architecture, and literature. This reflects the strong interest among Spanish academics and researchers in revisiting Arab heritage as a vital component of Spanish history and culture.

Rawashdeh further stated that Al Andalus served as a beacon of civilizational and humanitarian influence. It acted as a cultural bridge that transmitted human knowledge through Arabic literature to the West, particularly in fields such as medicine, mathematics, engineering, architecture, and others.

Dr. Salah Jarrar, Chairman of the Association's Administrative Board, Professor of Andalusian Literature, and former Minister of Culture, remarked that the motivation behind forming the association stemmed from the lasting impact of Al Andalus's cultural and civilizational legacy within the Arab consciousness. He noted that this effort mirrors similar associations established in countries like Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, Egypt, Iraq, and Spain.
