Jakarta, An earthquake measuring 5.3 magnitude on the Richter scale struck Bengkulu province in Indonesia.
A statement by the Indonesian Agency for Meteorological, Climatological and Geophysics (BMKG) said that the epicenter of the earthquake occurred 69 km from the Siloma area in the province, at a depth of 31 km.
There have been no reports of material damage or human losses as a result of the earthquake so far.
Earthquakes regularly strike different parts of Indonesia due to its location above the Pacific Ring of Fire, where many tectonic plates meet and cause frequent volcanic and seismic activity.
