4.9 Magnitude Earthquake Hits Nicaragua Coast

Managua, September 22 (QNA) – An earthquake measuring 4.9 on the Richter scale struck near the coast of Nicaragua.

The US Geological Survey reported today that the earthquake occurred 69 kilometers from the city of De Leon in Nicaragua, at a depth of 47.9 kilometers.

There were no reports of loss of life or property as a result of the earthquake.

Nicaragua is located within the earthquake belt called the “Pacific Ring of Fire,” where earthquakes are very active. (QNA)
