Kyiv: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has urged the United States to take action following Russia's deployment of a nuclear-capable intermediate-range missile in recent attacks on Ukraine.

According to Qatar News Agency, Zelenskyy issued a press statement revealing that Russia bombed Ukraine using 242 drones, 22 cruise missiles, and 13 ballistic missiles, including the Oreshk missile, which can carry a nuclear warhead. The attacks, which occurred from Thursday night into Friday morning, targeted civilian infrastructure and energy facilities in Kyiv, resulting in fatalities and underscoring the need for a decisive global response.

Russia has claimed the use of the Oreshk missile in western Ukraine was a retaliatory measure for an alleged attack by Ukraine on a residence of Russian President Vladimir Putin late last year. This marks the second occasion Russia has employed the Oreshk missile against Ukraine, with a previous attack reported in Dnipro in November 2024.
