New York:Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy revealed that U.S. President Donald Trump has given the green light for Ukraine to produce missiles for the "Patriot" air defense systems, following their recent meeting in New York.
According to Qatar News Agency, Zelenskyy stated that during their encounter on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, President Trump confirmed his final decision to grant Kyiv the necessary licenses for missile production.
Previously, President Trump expressed optimism about the idea, describing it as "absolutely wonderful" in July. However, he later urged caution, emphasizing the importance of the United States being "extremely cautious" before granting such authorizations.
Ukraine has been facing a significant shortage of "Patriot" interceptor missiles amid its ongoing conflict with Russia. The situation has been further strained since the escalation of military tensions between the US and Iran in February, which prompted a diversion of supplies for these advanced defense systems.
