Manama, Rawan bint Najeeb Tawfiqi, Minister of Youth Affairs, chaired a meeting of the Youth Empowerment Committee.
The minister highlighted the committee’s crucial role in advancing initiatives that empower young people and help develop their skills across various sectors. She underscored the need to integrate youth priorities into strategic plans across both sectors.
Tawfiqi also reflected on the committee’s recent initiatives, such as “The Exceptional Youth” and “Youth Supporter,” which have positively impacted Bahraini youth by recognising their achievements. She affirmed the committee’s commitment to introducing new programmes aimed at strengthening the role of youth in both the public and private sectors.
The meeting discussed the restructuring of the committee with additional members from civil society, the formation of a task force to oversee executive functions, and the launch of the “Exceptional Youth” initiative, to be celebrated on Bahraini Youth Day.
The committee also reviewed an initiative
to prioritise employment for young volunteers at Youth City 2030 in collaboration with the Ministry of Labour and explored cooperation with the Higher Education Council to count volunteer hours for university students as part of their practical training.
The meeting also reviewed the development of a national youth empowerment framework, the creation of a Bahraini youth empowerment database, and updates on the “Youth Supporter” initiative, alongside the formation of a team to track and support ongoing projects.
