Ramallah – Ma’an – Head of the Water Authority, Mazen Ghoneim, announced the start of pumping water to the city of Khan Yunis from the Bani Suhaila connection in the south of the Gaza Strip today, after the completion of all rehabilitation works for the main water carrier line from this connection and large parts of the lines branching from it.
Ghoneim explained that this achievement comes as a continuation of the great efforts made by the Palestinian government, aimed at providing the basic needs of the people of the Gaza Strip, as the line will deliver water to approximately 500,000 people in the city of Khan Yunis and the towns of Abasan Al-Kabira, Al-Jadidah, and Bani Suhaila.
The repair work on the conveyor line included providing all necessary equipment and pipes, and extending underground pipes 1,500 meters long and 24 inches in diameter. The major damages to the sub-conveyor lines that were discovered during field repair operations on both Al-Sikka Street and the sub-conveyor line in New Abasan City
were also completely repaired. These works were carried out despite all the complex conditions, existing risks, and lack of capabilities, in addition to The difficulty of working and moving in the field in light of the continuing bombing and the accumulation of rubble.
