Gaza – Together – The occupation forces began a ground invasion east of the city of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip, coinciding with dozens of air strikes.
The Israeli army spokesman officially announced the army’s control of the Rafah crossing from the Palestinian side.
Hebrew media published scenes of storming the Palestinian side of the Rafah crossing and carrying out destruction and shooting operations there.
The tanks fired several shells before storming the crossing, which was the only crossing outside Israel’s control.
Israeli tanks stormed the Rafah crossing on the Egyptian-Palestinian border for the first time since the occupation army withdrew from the Gaza Strip in 2005.
Some geographical data about the city of Rafah, south of the Gaza Strip:
1. The distance from the border with Israel to the beach in Rafah in a straight line is 12 km.
2. The distance from the Israeli border to the Rafah crossing is about 3 km.
3. The distance from the Israeli border to the eastern Rafah neighborhood line
is also about three kilometers, and between them is a non-urban area with almost no residential buildings – and there is also the destroyed Gaza airport.
The Al Salam and El Geneina neighborhoods in eastern Rafah (3 km line) are the first urban areas that the IDF maneuver forces will encounter in eastern Rafah.
