UNRWA: Israel’s claims of safe areas in Gaza are “false and misleading”

Ramallah – Ma’an – The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) said on Sunday that Israel’s claims of the existence of safe areas in Gaza are “false and misleading.”

The Agency’s Commissioner General, Philippe Lazzarini, expressed his concern over the ongoing displacement of Palestinians from their homes, in a post on the X platform, noting that there are no safe areas in Gaza.

Lazzarini added, “The Israeli authorities continue to issue forced displacement orders, also known as evacuation orders for residential areas, and this forces the Palestinians in Rafah to flee anywhere.”

He said, “Since the war began last October, most of Gaza’s residents have moved several times, and have desperately searched for safety that they have never found.”

He stressed that Israel’s claims of the existence of safe areas in Gaza are “false and misleading,” and that “there is no safe place in Gaza.”

In a non-final toll, medical sources announced today, Sunday, that the death toll in the Gaza Strip had risen to 35,034, and the injured to 78,755, the majority of whom were children and women, since the start of the Israeli occupation aggression on the 7th of last October.
