Doha:A stronger United Nations-African Union partnership is necessary to tackle the substantial challenges faced by Africa, with an emphasis on prevention, mediation, and decisive action, according to Parfait Onanga-Anyanga, the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General to the African Union.
According to Qatar News Agency, Onanga-Anyanga made these remarks during a Security Council meeting focused on the collaboration between the UN and regional organizations, including the African Union.
He reviewed the latest report from the Secretary-General on this partnership, noting its significant achievements while also acknowledging the increasingly complex peace and security environment. This environment is marked by persistent conflicts and a mix of internal and external factors contributing to instability.
The report will address three main priorities: the changing nature of conflicts, the common factors leading to instability, and the practical aspects of implementing this partnership in peace support operations.
