Authorities of the Russian-controlled Ukrainian city of Makiivka announced that one civilian was killed and 41 persons were injured, including two children, in a bombing by Ukrainian forces late on Tuesday.
Russian Mayor of Makiivka, Vladislav Klucharov said in statements that a body was found dead, while 41 persons have been injured. The Ukrainian bombing occurred on Tuesday evening, followed by a barrage of very violent strikes that caused a lot of damage, a few hours later.
Around 40 residential buildings, schools, and health centers were damaged in the bombing, alongside the damage that struck roads and infrastructures, Klucharov added.
The Ukrainian military confirmed the destruction of its military forces forming Russia in Makiivka, which has been controlled by pro-Russian separatists since 2014, without disclosing further details about the operation.
Makiivka and other cities became annexed by Russia in 2014 in eastern Ukraine, especially the Donetsk and Luhansk regions. However, it was previously subjected to Ukrainian attacks, the most violent of which were on 2022 New Year’s Eve, when an attack on the city’s military base killed 89 Russian soldiers.
