The Turkish authorities said that they entered the country illegally, indicating that the security authorities arrested eight people on suspicion of smuggling operations.

The Turkish borders with Bulgaria and Greece are witnessing rising numbers of migrants taking land or sea routes to European countries while security forces are working to counter them.
