Erbil:According to Qatar News Agency, US President Donald Trump declared the withdrawal of the last US troops from Iraq as a victory for both the United States and Iraq, marking the end of Operation Inherent Resolve. Trump announced that the mission to defeat ISIS militants was successfully completed.
In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump highlighted the presence of what he called a "great new prime minister" in Iraq, whom he claimed to have supported and endorsed from the start. He described the withdrawal as a decisive victory over ISIS, stating that the group had been completely decimated during his first administration.
Trump emphasized that he set a clear mission and provided military commanders with the necessary tools to achieve it, while ensuring that the US presence in Iraq did not become permanent. He indicated that after considering whether to stay or leave, he decided it was time for American troops to return home.
Earlier today, US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced the completion of the orderly departure of US forces and equipment from Erbil Air Base, signifying the official conclusion of the Operation Inherent Resolve mission in Iraq.
