Transportation Ministry signs MoU with Russia

Manama, Mohammed bin Thamer Al Kaabi, Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications, affirmed the evolving historic relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Russian Federation, noting the ongoing enhancement of coordination across various domains.

This came following the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation in the field of transportation and transit, within the framework of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s official visit to the Russian Federation.

From the Bahraini side, the MoU was signed by Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and from the Russian side by Roman Starovoyt, Minister of Transport.

In this context, Minister Al Kaabi underscored the importance of enhancing cooperation between the two countries across various fields, especially in transportation and transit. He noted that this memorandum wil
l contribute to enhancing trade exchange and facilitating the movement of individuals and goods between the two countries.

The Minister further explained that the signed memorandum aims to improve the efficiency of transportation links to organize and increase the volume of passenger and cargo transport in bilateral traffic and transit on the International North-South Transport Corridor. Additionally, it aims to enhance the efficiency of the corridor’s infrastructure and increase capacities by establishing new transportation infrastructure.

The memorandum also addressed enhancing avenues for cooperation in the field of transportation and increasing the number of passengers and goods transported.
